In a groundbreaking moment for youth leadership and women's empowerment, UN Peace Ambassador and Mayor Dr. Cashenna A. Cross, H.C. was inducted as an Honorary Member of THOZ Diamonds—the first-ever high school sorority in the United States, founded at Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale, Prince George's County, Maryland.
On March 14, 2025, twelve brilliant young women at this premier science and technology magnet school made history by establishing Tau Eta Phi Zeta Diamond Chapter. Led by founding President Gabriella, a remarkable ninth grader, these trailblazers embody the mission of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Inclusion, and Personal Growth.
Mayor Dr. Cross served as keynote speaker, sharing wisdom on resilience, excellence, and the beauty of becoming a diamond under pressure. "The strength of creative thought, passion, and dreams is what shapes a stronger, more deliberate society—starting with our youth," she emphasized during the induction ceremony.
This milestone resonates deeply with GEPS' mission to empower the next generation of women leaders. These young women represent the future of gender advocacy, demonstrating that leadership, sisterhood, and service begin early. GEPS celebrates these founding members and their vision for creating positive change. Let's continue supporting our youth as they fight for humanity and gender equality!
